KORG X5DR
<< VINTAGE KEYS / BEATBOXES << HOLLOW SUN CONTRIBUTORS
The Korg X5DR was (is?) an underrated powerhouse of classic Korg sounds with many of the basic samples derived from the best selling O1W and MI keyboards.

Being so small (it's a 1U, half-rack width module), its tiny 2 x 16 LCD and awkward user interface makes editing and creating sounds difficult - an experience not unlike decorating your hallway through the letterbox in the front door! - but as a source of preset, quality 'bread-and-butter' sounds (as well as more unusual sounds), the X5DR is something of a sonic bargain. If you ever see one going cheap in the classifieds, buy it - a truly terrific collection of sounds in such a compact little case.
